About the maker:
A brief history of the clock maker is as follows: This clock is
made by a German firm Winterhaulder and Hoffiermer, which is considered
one of the most highly respected German clock manufacturers of the
late 19th and early 20th centuries, the company was established
by Anton Winterhalder (born 1838) he married the daughter of Johann
Hoffiermeier and was later taken over by his four sons. This clock
maker began manufacturing spring-driven clocks with wood plates
in a mixture of Black Forest and American styles; however, at the
end of the 19th century, the firm was successful in penetrating
into the English market. Consequently, their clocks were designed
after British historical styles
