This is a very
good quality repeating carriage clock by Moulinié of Geneva. It
has a one-piece case with a solid rear door with shuttered winding
holes.
One of the nice features of this clock is the enamel dial. It has
blue roman numerals and is signed Moulinié a Geneve; this is complimented
by the brass trefoil hands.
The eight-day movement has its original 13-jewel lever platform
escapement and strikes hours and half hours on a bell with the added
complication of an hour repeat button. The back plate is also signed
Moulinié a Geneve.
The Height of the clock is just over 6" (15cms)
with the handle up.
Although the clock is clearly signed and marked Geneva this would
be the retailer. This is a French carriage clock, probably made
by Lepine and dating to circa 1845-50. The movement is stamped and
numbered throughout there is a makers initials on the inside front
plate.
