An
impressive oak and mahogany moon phase longcase by Smith of Coventry
recorded as working first half of the 19thc. The stunning oak and
mahogany case has had the best selected mahogany veneer with deep
graining and flames. The clock being a typical Coventry style case
design. It has very good quality brass capitals to the hood and
trunk of the clock, with good shaped and figured door inlayed with
mahogany and ebony with a superb shell in the center.
The dial benefiting from the phases of the moon also has a subsidiary
seconds and subsidiary date, this has been sensitively restored
/ conserved and retains much of the original ground..
The clock came to us in an untouched state, and we have gently conserved
the clock back to its former glory.
