Freshwater The Isle of Wight.
By
Byron Cooper. R A.
39" x 56"
Freshwater
The Isle of Wight.
A large
(39" by 56") and impressive painting by Byron Cooper
(George Gordon Byron Cooper) RA 31, RBA1, studied at Manchester
academy of fine arts. Exhibited at the London salon, Manchester
art gallery and the Walker art gallery Liverpool.
The painting
is signed lower left and is inscribed with title verso. There
is also a reference to the price of 300 guineas which was
a fair sum of money at the time. The painting is very restful
on the eye and gives a feeling of peace and calm.
This is
the largest painting I can find by this artist being 39"
by 56"
and could quite possibly be one of his main exhibits as there
is also a remnant of an exhibition number to the front of
the canvas.
The painting has a fabulous hand made water gilded frame.
