A good oak station clock from Atherstone
A superb quality oak station clock. The clock shows evidence of
a plaque to the lower right of the clock, which would have given
the station number, this now sadly lost makes it virtually impossible
to give the clock its original provenance as nearly all rail records
have been destroyed.
The clock: It is a well proportioned eight day duration weight driven
clock, that similar to a longcase or grandfather clock. The movement
has four pillar's and is rack striking. It has its original weights
and pendulum and was purchased in a sleepy condition. The photo
shows the condition of the dial being quite good, however the name,
date and subsidiary seconds are faded. This results in gentle conservation
of the dial to bring it back to standard.
